Turkish boycott

Business News: When the relations of countries deteriorate at the political level, its effect is not limited to diplomacy only. This is what happened with Turkey. As soon as Turkey sided with Pakistan, the people of India started giving an economic response without delay. No slogans, no protests - straight boycott and loss of billions!

If we don't get married there, how will they bake bread?

Turkey, which had become the dream wedding destination for the rich Indians, has now become deserted without the resonating shehnai.Out of 50 Indian weddings proposed in 2025, 30 were directly cancelled.

An average of Rs 25 crore is spent on a wedding. That means Turkey is facing a loss of Rs 770 crore in just this one blow. The palaces, which used to be booked a year in advance, are now lying vacant. Event management companies have given up. And the biggest thing - this is just the beginning.

'India shock' in tourism industry

If you think boycott is just a social media trend, then look at the condition of Turkey.
More than 20,000 tour packages were cancelled from a state like Uttar Pradesh - only for Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Direct impact: Bookings worth Rs 2000 crore went up in smoke.

While Turkey was hoping to earn $300 million from Indian tourists in 2025, it is now afraid of losing even $150 million. Hotels, guides, taxis, markets - everything is locked down.

Apples will rot, but will not sell

Turkish apples have been present in the Indian market for a long time. But now the situation is such that shopkeepers are shying away from even touching Turkish apples.
In 2023-24, Turkey sent apples worth Rs 821 crore to India. But now there has been a 50% decline in demand. That is, if the situation does not change, the red apples grown in the fields of Turkey will rot in the warehouses.

Data from travel websites is telling the truth

This anger is also clearly visible on India's travel apps:

  • 250% increase in cancellations of Turkey packages on MakeMyTrip
  • More than 22% bookings directly cancelled on EaseMyTrip

Indians have now started considering Turkey not just a travel destination, but a 'boycott zone'.

India's emotional economic war

Turkey made a diplomatic move, India made an economic one. The difference is that India's move came directly from the common man - not at the behest of any government, nor from any media propaganda. When the people of 1.4 billion are angry, they do not just tweet, they close the market of billions.

Turkey is now understanding that the anger of the people of India can be destructive, not just emotional - and that too peacefully. This is the new India — where every customer becomes a decision, and every decision an economic war.
